Children's Hospital of the Future Foundation Members Visit Dominicus Children’s Hospital in Berlin

13.02.2008, 13:44

February 13, 2008, members of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, headed by Head of the Fund’s Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko, visited the Dominicus Children’s Hospital in Berlin.

The visit was part of the program of studying state-of-the-art technologies in hospital equipment. The Dominicus hospital was constructed by the so-called module method, allowing to assemble a hospital in a short term, taking into consideration its medical task and architectural design. The Ukraine 3000 Fund members met with representatives of the firm, using this technology in hospital construction, which has built a number of hospitals in Germany and other countries, in addition to the Dominicus. The firm demonstrated to the Ukrainian party the concept of module construction.

The Ukraine 3000 Fund members also took a tour of the clinics and talked to its management and patients.

Earlier a workgroup has been created to study global experience in patient care institutions construction, whose members visit leading world’s children’s hospital. This research is aimed at implementing these attainments in the construction of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, a.k.a. Children’s Hospital of the Future. Members of the workgroup represent the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund, and the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital of the Future charitable project. In part, in late January the workgroup’s members visited three hospitals in Germany. The workgroup plans another series of trips to the best children’s hospitals and meetings with construction companies using innovative technologies.
