Children’s Hospital of the Future Project Considered by Architecture and City Planning Council01.06.2009, 12:16
May 29, 2009, a meeting was held of the Architecture and City Planning Council at the the City Planning, Architecture and Design Head Administration at KCSA, considering the Design stage design specifications and estimates of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, a.k.a. Children’s Hospital of the Future.
Volodymyr Pidhirniak, Director of Budova-Tsentr-1 Ltd., the Ukrainian partner of the project’s designer general Building Design Partnership French-British consortium, presented the technical and economic data and architectural solutions.
The next speaker was reviewer of the Draft Project and Project stages’ for architecture and design Oleh Leleko, who has been working as a medical technologist for 20 years and is fully qualifies to access the Center’s designer’s solutions. He added his remarks to the presentation, emphasizing the fact that the deign is innovative for our architectural school.
The project aroused great interest in the Council members and was subject to a 1.5-hour long discussion. The architects were interested chiefly in the energy center’s location and functionality, considering modern medical technologies in the design, new approach to fire extinguishing, etc.
In general, the architectural community supported the project. All proposals and critical comments will be recorded in the Architecture and City Planning Council meeting report.
