NOVO Medical Center hosts a seminar on healthcare public-private partnership

On October 24, 2014, a seminar on healthcare PPPs was held at the NOVO medical center in Lviv. Over 70 participants attended the event, among them Tetiana Korotka, director of PPP Professional Services at USAID, Olexandr Maksymchuk, president of the Association of Charities of Ukraine, Iryna Mykytchak, vice-head of the Lviv Healthcare Department, Volodymyr Zub, head of the Healthcare Unit at the Lviv City Counci, healthcare providers from the city of Lviv and surrounding areas.

Center’s director Nataliya Klymovych presented the facility, pointing out its many advantages such as excellent diagnostic services and charity care programs for both young patients and adults.

Tetiana Korotka gave an overview of successful PPP projects implemented by USAID in Ukraine. Oleksandr Maksymchuk focused on the creation of the NOVO medical center which functions as one of Ukraine’s first healthcare PPPs. Viktoriya Mykoluk of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation spoke of her experiences working on PPP projects. Center’s Chief Physician Angela Dyba pointed out the benefits of the center’s state-of-art medical equipment.

The new medical center NOVO will be opened at the Lviv City Municipal Children’s Hospital. With its cutting-edge medical technologies previously unavailable in the west of Ukraine, the center is a true gift to the community. The advanced equipment units here include the Optima MR450w GE Healthcare MRI system, Toshiba Aquilion PRIME 4D CT scanner, two 4D ultrasound machines and a portable ultrasound device. From now on, patients from throughout the region will receive diagnostic services directly in Lviv with no need to travel elsewhere in Ukraine or abroad.

The center will welcome its first patients on October 28. Official opening will take place on November 6.
