Oleksandr Maksymchuk and Vira Pavliuk Visit Two Children’s Hospitals in California

February 21, 2007, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk and Head of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund Vira Pavliuk visited the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (Stanford, Ca.) and Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA.

Representatives of the Fund were given a tour of the hospitals’ facilities and talked to the doctors and patients. In course of their meetings with the hospitals’ management, they discussed training for Ukrainian doctors at these institutions. Besides, Mr. Maksymchuk and Ms. Pavliuk studied the management, financing, and labor organization at the two hospitals and familiarized themselves with the equipment used at the infants’ ICU.

The Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, founded at the Stanford University in 1919, is one of the US best children’s medical institutions. Over 5000 people (doctors, nurses, and volunteers) work at the hospital, with some of them simultaneously teaching at the Stanford University. The clinics has at its disposal high-end medical equipment. Its staff’s major rule is minimize trauma for their little patients, creating comfortable conditions for their stay and treatment.

The Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA was founded in 1950 at the University of California and Los Angeles, giving the doctors access to the university’s research projects and resources. The hospital receives over 37,000 children every year and is renowned for its international programs. In addition to the traditional range of medical service, the hospital specializes in treating children with HIV/AIDS and oncological diseases. The clinics organizes annual summer camps for children with cancer.

Representatives of the Ukraine 3000 Fund are visiting Los Angeles, Ca., USA, on an invitation from the California Association to Aid Ukraine. February 17, 2007, they attended the Benefit Ball organized by CAAU. The funds raised in course of the ball will be used to arrange training in California for Ukrainian doctors who will work at the Children’s Hospital of the Future and member hospitals of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund’s Hospital to Hospital Program.
